The CNC Shop is located on the third floor of Higgins Hall South. It is equipped with two CNC machines: the first is a TECHNO LC Series 4896. It is a three axis mill with a vacuum bed to hold down material. It has an effective cutting area of 48″ x 96″ x 6″. The second CNC machine is a three axis mill for cutting only foam. It has an effective cutting area of 24″ x 36″ x 5″. Students must complete the CNC Certification Tutorial in order to use the lab and should bring the following items in order to cut:
The Laser Lab is located on the 3rd floor of Higgins Hall South along with the Wood Shop, CNC Lab, and Rapid Prototyping/3D Printing Room. It features three Universal Laser X-660 lasers with 18 x 32″ beds and 60 watt lasers with attached workstations, and an in-line ventilation system. The lab is open daily from 9am-10pm with student monitors overseeing cutting and providing assistance. A schedule of priority times for each program and specific studios is posted in the lab.
The 3D Printing Lab is located on the 3rd floor of Higgins Hall South. It features a ZCorp 310 printer with 8″x10″x8″ build box and a ZCorp 650 full-color high resolution printer with a 10″x15″x8″ build box. The lab is open daily from 9am-10pm with student monitors overseeing printing and providing assistance. Students can submit files and pay for the cost of materials directly in the 3D print room. The Metal Shop is located in the basement of Higgins Hall South and is set-up for a wide range of metal fabrication, from large profile steel members to sheet metal fabrication. We have two milling machines, 48″ sheer, 48″ roller, 48″ break, TIG welder, MIG welder, plasma cutter, and a full compliment of cutting and grinding tools.
